Coventry City intensify transfer pursuit with 'third bid' as deadline looms
Coventry City have upped their attempt to land Swansea skipper Matt Grimes by making a third bid to the South Wales club, claims the BBC.
The Sky Blues are reported to have had two offers rejected by their Championship rivals but “remain hopeful” of landing the midfielder before the transfer window closes next Monday.
The article says there “are suggestions” that a bid of between £3.5m and £4m may be enough to convince Swansea to sell. Grimes signed a contract extension running until 2027 at Swansea last August.

It also claims that the 29-year-old can expect a significant pay rise should he make the move to join Frank Lampard at Coventry.
The loss of Grimes would leave Swansea even more desperate for new faces before the mid-season transfer comes to an end. The Swans’ squad is already short in various departments, with head coach Luke Williams keen to add an attacking midfielder and a wide player before news of Grimes’ potential departure emerged.
Grimes has made 333 appearances for Swansea, scoring 16 goals, since joining from Exeter City a decade ago this month, establishing himself as a stalwart of the side following the club’s relegation from the Premier League in 2018.
Swansea host Coventry this Saturday having slipped to 17th in the Championship after taking only one point from their past five league games.
