Coventry City's FA Cup third round tie against Sheffield Wednesday has been given the go-ahead amid heavy and freezing fog at the CBS Arena and across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Today's matchday referee Thomas Kirk has inspected the pitch and assessed the conditions at the stadium where visibility is affected. But for now, at least, the match official has given the all-clear for the Sky Blues to play against the Owls as the Championship rivals go head to head in the competition for the second year running.

The referee inspected the pitch again at 5pm, an hour before kick-off, when the conditions had improved.

Meanwhile, Bedworth United's match at the Oval against Long Eaton has been postponed.
