A Victor Torp brace earned Coventry City their third successive win with a 2-1 victory over Watford at the CBS Arena - and sparked talk of a serious push for a place in the Championship play-offs.

The Danish midfielder, signed last season by former boss Mark Robins, opened the scoring when he latched onto Jack Rudoni’s cross in the first half before then lashing home a free-kick with just under 15 minutes left.

At 2-0, the Sky Blues were cruising, before Liam Kitching’s own goal gave the visitors hope of a fightback that was never seriously on the cards, such was the home dominance.

Instead, Frank Lampard’s men were able to hold on for their third win in a week, making it seven unbeaten at home in all competitions and leaving them just six points outside the top-six.

Certainly, Coventry fans have been impressed by the man who was brought in when Robins was sacked earlier in the season. And they are also appreciative of the improvement he has wrought in goal hero Torp in recent weeks.

But some of them were still making a key point in the aftermath of the game with just a week to run before the January transfer window closes. This is what they had to say after the game…

Isaac Dennis: When we get EMC and Wright back, we will be cooking. Get a signing in now, and who knows, we could push up to playoffs.

Llewcalon: Frank Lampard, arguably one of the best midfielders of his time, making Torp better every game! Love to see it.

Mitchell: Even without the goals, that’s Torp's best game in a City shirt. Starting to deliver.

Rob: Are we back? Another really solid performance.. unlucky to not keep the clean sheet. Onwards.

Rory Davies: 3 wins against 3 play-off contenders in a week. Looking very good. Get 2 bodies in and I’m convinced we can push for the play-offs.

Mr D: Every player excellent again. Lost something when we went one up top. Ellis is a real pivot and focal point in this team.

Neil Standen: Superb result. Frank has got the team really coming together now.

Andy Cosser: Well done! A decent performance, unlucky to concede to a deflected shot that was going yards wide. Two great finishes by Torp. Kitching, MVE, Lats & Thomas looked solid, Rudoni caused problems, Simms with some important contributions keeping possession. A good shift by all.

Arnold: Lamps just needs to stay in the Championship.
