Fulham boss Marco Silva is “considering” making a move for Coventry City right-back Milan van Ewijk this month amid uncertain futures for two of his current defenders, it has been claimed.

The 24-year-old full-back has already been the subject of transfer speculation in the current window after Dutch outlet soccernews.nl claimed Turkish club Galatasaray were in talks with the Sky Blues about the player, while the former Netherlands Under-21 international was also linked with interest from Feyenoord and PSV in the summer.

Van Ewijk has displayed indifferent form during his second season at the CBS Arena when he has lacked consistency at times, but he remains a key man in the team and City’s only recognised senior right-back.

The latest speculation is reported in the Mirror, which claims The Cottagers’ manager Silva is “could look to strengthen” his backline now rather than wait until the summer – a situation brought about due to Fulham remaining in dialogue with injured defender Kenny Tete over a new contract. The Dutch star’s current deal is due to expire this summer but the 29-year-old is, the report claims, being eyed by former club Ajax over a possible return.

Added to that, it says, is the fact that fellow full-back Timothy Castagne is on Roma’s radar, leaving Fulham looking to be proactive in terms of strengthening the position.

ESPN in the Netherlands is also reporting that Van Ewijk is on Fulham's "radar".

However, it’s worth noting that Frank Lampard has made his stance clear regarding the possible departure of any of his main players in January, insisting he wants to keep his squad together. So far centre-back Liam Kitching and striker Brandon Thomas-Asante have been linked with interest from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers but both claims have been dismissed.

Speaking earlier this month when asked if the club have had any offers or inquiries about his players, the head coach insisted: “No, not as far as I am aware and I don’t want them to go anywhere. So it’s simple.”
