Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante is the subject of interest from Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers - just a matter of months after arriving at the CBS Arena. Thomas-Asante joined the Sky Blues in the summer transfer window from Midlands counterparts West Bromwich Albion, where he'd spent two seasons and topped the Baggies' goalscorer charts on both occasions.

Thomas-Asante, who'd not played above League Two prior to his stint with Albion, having joined from Salford City, scored the winner in the EFL Cup against Oxford United earlier in the season and then fired another in the same competition against Tottenham Hotspur, but his only goal for City in the Championship came against Blackburn, ironically, back in October.

Since, the forward has gone 18 appearances without finding the back of the net, comfortably the longest run of matches he's failed to score at this level since making the step up in 2022. Thomas-Asante has made 29 appearances in all competitions this term but he has often played second fiddle to the likes of Ellis Simms and fellow summer recruit Norman Bassette.

Sky Sports claim that Rovers are interested in bringing the forward to Ewood Park this month and have submitted a £1.75m bid for Thomas-Asante, who joined City for north of £2m in the summer. Blackburn are bang in contention for a play-off finish this season and are eyeing more firepower this month, but they're set to be disappointed in their efforts to lure Ben Brereton-Diaz back to the club on loan.

It would mean City making a £500,000 loss on Thomas-Asante only six months into the four-year contract he signed upon agreeing to make the switch before the season began. The Ghana international turned 26 over the festive period.
