Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner 'delighted' with Romain Esse additon
Oliver Glasner is pleased to have added extra attacking depth to the Crystal Palace squad with the arrival of Romain Esse.
The South London club announced the signing of Esse from Millwall for a fee in the region of £14.5m ahead of their win against West Ham on Saturday.
Esse, 19, amassed eight goal contributions in 66 senior appearances for Millwall after breaking through from the academy in December 2022.
Eagles boss Glasner is ‘delighted’ with the addition but noted Esse will need time to adjust to the Premier League.
“It is good that he has joined us and can now train with us. He is a young player, a typical Crystal Palace signing.
“The club have enjoyed a lot of success recruiting young players from the Championship and supporting them in their development – this is what we will do with Romain.
“We are convinced of his skills, he has a great understanding of the game and finds the spaces.
“We will work with him and support him so he improves. We need to make sure he gets known to the difference between the Premier League and the Championship as quickly as possible.
“I am delighted. He gives us another option in attack.

“His numbers are not extraordinary in the Championship, but he is 19. He has a good character – Dougie Freedman knows this well.
“I had a talk with Romain and he is listening, and wants to improve and learn. He has great skills and good character – this is a great foundation for us.
“We won’t put pressure on him – he has not signed for six months, he has signed for five-and-a-half years.
“If I am a little critical it took too long to get the signing done, but it is better in the middle of the transfer window than the end.”
