Crystal Palace: Eberechi Eze in line to face Tottenham after full week of training

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is in contention to face Tottenham on Saturday.

Eze has been sidelined for around three weeks with a hamstring injury, but has returned to full training ahead of the London derby.

There is also optimism that centre-back Joachim Andersen could start against Spurs, while midfielder Will Hughes will face a late fitness check.

Eze has not featured for Palace since being substituted after scoring twice in last month’s 3-2 home win over Sheffield United.

The England international has missed four games since Palace but returned to full first-team training on Thursday last week and could feature against Spurs.

Eze is yet to play under new Palace manager Oliver Glasner, whose tenure got off to a positive start last weekend with a 3-0 win over Burnley at Selhurst Park.

Glasner said ahead of that match: “Eze, he was with us the last two training sessions and looks good. He will be with us the whole of next week, and if he feels ready, he will be in the squad [at Tottenham].”

Meanwhile, Andersen missed his first minutes of the season against Burnley when forced off in injury time..

“He told us he had a little bit of cramp, and of course, we didn’t want to take any risk, and that was the reason”, Glasner said after the victory over Burnley, explaining why Andersen was substituted.

But Andersen is training as usual and is expected to start Saturday’s meeting with Spurs. Hughes has missed Palace’s last two matches with an ankle injury, and a final assessment on whether he is fit will be made ahead of Saturday.
