Crystal Palace: Eddie Nketiah 'ready to start' but Trevoh Chalobah debut delayed, reveals Oliver Glasner
Oliver Glasner has revealed Eddie Nketiah is ready to start for Crystal Palace against Leicester following his £25million switch from Arsenal.
Palace made late moves in the transfer market to sign Nketiah and Maxence Lacroix as well as bring in Trevoh Chalobah and Matt Turner on loan.
And Glasner has confirmed Nketiah is likely to make his debut for the visit of Leicester on Saturday, saying: "Yes, he's ready to start.
“Otherwise, we wouldn't have spent about £25m. We don't spend £25m for a player to be on the bench. He can play different positions - he's very smart.
“He is a different profile to Jean-Philippe [Mateta]."
Glasner will be hoping Nketiah’s arrival will give his side a boost after they failed to win any of their first three Premier League games.
However, the Austrian manager will be without Chalobah after the defender picked up an injury in his first training session with the club.
The Palace boss has ruled him out of the Leicester game and considers him doubtful for their EFL Cup third-round match against QPR on Tuesday.
However, midfielder Adam Wharton will be available after training away from the first team last week.
“He [Wharton] will be available,” Glasner said. “He needed last week to train individually. When we started on Tuesday this week, he had every single training session.
On £14m summer signing Chadi Riad, Glasner said: “The doctor says it will take 8-12 weeks."
