Crystal Palace squad receive Oliver Glasner reward after impressive upturn in results

Crystal Palace’s players have been rewarded with extra days off this week after a string of impressive results.

A 1-1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday means the Eagles have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 in their last four games, having secured Premier League safety with wins against Liverpool, West Ham and Newcastle.

Manager Oliver Glasner had been pleased with his team’s performances since he took over in February, and they are beginning to produce results during the season run-in.

Palace’s players had a day off on Sunday and have been rewarded for their good form with some additional time off this week. They do not play again until hosting Manchester United at Selhurst Park next Monday night (May 6).

Speaking after the draw with Fulham, Glasner said: “At the end the result is okay, but I'm really pleased with the performance again. I think it is a totally deserved point.

“The feeling is we were the better team and then suddenly it's 0-1, you are down. It’s our third game in six days and we had cleared staying in the Premier League. Many teams can then be ‘okay’, don’t give the effort that they need to come back.

“But the players had a lot of power. They wanted to get this point, and then I think we got our reward with an amazing goal from Jeffrey Schlupp. Again, a very good impact from all our substitutes, getting new energy on the pitch.”

The Austrian added: “It was very hard work today, but the players did it really well, so now they deserve to have some days off and then prepare for the finish of the Premier League [campaign].”

After the United match, Palace visit Wolves on May 11 before completing their season with a home meeting with Aston Villa on the final day.
