Crystal Palace vs Millwall LIVE: FA Cup latest score and goal update after horror Mateta injury
Crystal Palace vs Millwall LIVE
The FA Cup fifth round weekend continues in south east London as local rivals Crystal Palace host Millwall face off at Selhurst Park. There may be just eight miles separating the two teams, but this is just the second meeting between the neighbours in 12 years. The Eagles ran out winners in the FA Cup three years old, but before then met in the Championship in 2013.
The Lions could have not have been drawn against Palace at a worse time this season with Oliver Glasner’s side winning away at Fulham before putting four past Aston Villa in preparation for today’s fifth-round clash. Millwall beat Championship table-toppers Leeds in the last round, but have otherwise toiled during February before sneaking past a poor Derby side last time out.
It has been confirmed that Eagles second-choice goalkeeper Matt Turner will start, as is expected in cup competitions, but Glasner is otherwise expected to name a strong line-up for what could be a feisty clash. Follow the game LIVE below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from Dom Smith at Selhurst Park.

89min: Munoz is being replaced by Clyne.
14:08 , Alex Young
83min: Nketiah doesn’t celebrate much, the commentator suggesting it is because he is from Lewisham, which is Millwall territory. Not too sure about that.
GOAL!
14:07 , Alex Young
82min: Game, set and match as Nketiah loops a superb header over Jensen and inside the far post!
14:05 , Alex Young
80min: Palace are still struggling to make an impact as the nerves rack up heading into the final 10.
Millwall fans making all the noise.
13:59 , Alex Young
75min: Cooper into the book for a shoulder barge on Nketiah.
13:55 , Alex Young
70min: Another really good chacne for Millwall as Ivanovic climbs highest to meet a cross, but heads straight at Turner.

Millwall are due credit for the fight they have shown in this second half. They're still in the game, with 10 men, and it's some good old-fashioned graft that's ensured they are. No signs yet off Palace doubling their lead.
13:53 , Alex Young
67min: Triple change for Millwill as Saville, Honeyman and Ivanovic come on for Mitchell, De Norre and Coburn.
CHANCE!
13:49 , Alex Young
64min: Millwall should be level!
A superb low cross from Azeez outwide sees Coburn ghost past Lacroix but fail to get a toe on the end.

63min: Hughes gets absolute pelters from the Millwall fans nearby as he takes a corner, which is played short and the back to the midfielder to float a cross into Jensen’s arms.

Looks as though Romain Esse is about to come on against his former club. And so too Adam Wharton, whose name is being cheered before he's even stripped and ready to enter the fray.
13:42 , Alex Young
57min: Palace starting to find their feet again. Millwall proving a tougher nut to crack in this half.
13:39
54min: Looks like Millwall are preparing some changes, which is notable as they only have one more ‘substitution window’ to use, having made two changes in the first half.
13:37
52min: Millwall sense an opportunity here. Really pushing.
13:36 , Alex Young
50min: Millwall win an early corner, which is dealt with easily by Palace.

Paris on Mateta and Roberts tackle
13:35 , Alex Young
"So far, we know he's got bad gash behind his ear and a head injury. Obviously, he's at the hospital so we hope for the best.
"There's a lot of emotion in football but we need to talk about that challenge. All the time I've watched football, I've never seen a challenge like it. I looked to see how old the keeper is, he's 30 years old and that is the most reckless challenge on a football pitch I think I've ever seen.
"He needs to have a long, long look at himself that lad because he's endangering a fellow professional's life with a challenge like that.
"It's very difficult for me to talk about the rest of the game because we are worried about JP and it's just a terrible, terrible challenge.
"They're all professionals out there and they've got to treat each other like professionals and have a duty of care towards their fellow professionals, you know. And that goalkeeper hasn't had one, and credit to the players, for carrying on.
"If you're kicking somebody in the head with the full force, then God knows what damage has been done to him."
Second half
13:30 , Alex Young
46min: Back underway. No changes.
13:28 , Alex Young
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish is speaking to BBC Sport about the Roberts challenge on Mateta.
He is fuming, and rightly so. Full quotes to come.
13:24 , Alex Young
I wouldn’t imagine Glasner is concerned by that late Millwall. He knows his team have been in almost complete control in that first half.

A hit from nowhere, off two Palace bodies, gets Millwall back in the cup tie in the 14th minute of first-half stoppage time.
A sign of things to come after the break? Surely not?
Half-time!
13:16 , Alex Young
60min: There’s the whistle!
GOAL!
13:15
59min: Hold on, game on!
In the final minute of first-half stoppage time, Harding drills home after brilliant work from Azeez on the left flank. First cross is cleared but only as far as Harding to first home through a sea of bodies!
13:13 , Alex Young
58min: Chilwell getting whistled by Millwall fans for taking too long over a throw in.
13:12 , Alex Young
57min: Hughes takes the corner for Palace, which flies into Jensen’s grateful grasp.
13:07 , Alex Young
52min: Bangura-Williams into the book for a late lunge on Chilwell.
13:07 , Alex Young
49min: Palace fans in full voice, Millwall fans have gone quiet. Don’t blame them, their players know this one is done.
Do feel sorry for Tanganga, who has borne the brunt of it today.
13:01 , Alex Young
45min: There will be 13 minutes added on.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
12:58 , Alex Young
That wasn't a long VAR check at all, and as soon as it's awarded Munoz is darting towards the home fans to celebrate a goal which, you feel, puts Millwall perilously close to exiting the FA Cup this afternoon.
GOAL!
12:57 , Alex Young
40min: Munoz darts in at the back post to volley home! It was originally ruled out for offside, but as the ball came off Tanganga, it is awarded!
That was a quick VAR call, was that the semi-automated offside in action?
12:54 , Alex Young
37min: Oh my word, Chilwell just hit the crossbar with a volley on the turn inside the area... but he’s a good two yards offside.
Lovely technique.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
12:52 , Alex Young
Jensen turns to Tanganga there and raises his arms, presumably asking: "Er, why have you just headed it into your own net, mate?"
Palace deservedly ahead and it's a tough gig for Millwall from here...
GOAL!
12:50 , Alex Young
33min: It’s been coming! Tanganga heads Hughes' cross into his own net. Tough one to take.
12:49 , Alex Young
32min: Another early change for Millwall as Neghli is forced off after being hit by a Chilwell cross, replaced by Bangura-Williams.
SAVE!
12:46 , Alex Young
31min: Super, super stop by Jensen to deny Chilwell at the near post!
12:46 , Alex Young
30min: Nketiah puts pressure on Tanganga on the edge of the area, which the former Spurs defender deals with well.
12:42 , Alex Young
26min: Does already feel like it’s only a matter of time for Palace.
Hughes’ fine low ball into the box finds Eze for a pop at goal, which is saved, and then the follow up header from Lerma is diverted away and eventually Millwall hoof clear.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
12:40 , Alex Young
Decent chance for Nketiah, but a good save. After his late goal made it four against Villa on Tuesday night, he looks well up for it in the Selhurst sun this afternoon.
12:39 , Alex Young
23min: Nketiah bursts into the area and looks up for a team-mate, but his pass is deflected into the grateful hands of substitute goalkeeper Jensen.
12:36 , Alex Young
20min: Chance for Millwall as Coburn ghosts into the area and is inches away from getting on the end of a flick on, but Turner is down well to smother.
NO GOAL!
12:34 , Alex Young
18min: Nketiah thinks he has fired Palace immediately in front, but he inadvertently handled in the build-up so it’s ruled out.
12:31 , Alex Young
16min: Play resumes with a free kick from where the incident happened, dead centre of goal about five yards out of the penalty area... and Eze hits the wall.
12:31 , Alex Young
15min: Mateta is now being stretchered off. He is being applauded by the Palace fans.
He is expected to be sent straight to hospital.
12:30 , Alex Young
12min: Play is still paused as Mateta is treated on the pitch. He appears to be receiving oxygen. Nketiah is ready to replace him as a concussion substitution.
Dom Smith at Selhurst Park
12:26 , Alex Young
A novel moment as the decision is explained over the loudspeaker. Yes, he gets the ball first, but it's the right call.
Totally endangered Mateta. Far from the ideal start for Millwall.
12:25 , Alex Young
9min: Mateta is still down, and could well be stretchered off too.
12:23 , Alex Young
7min: The VAR is saying he has made contact with studs to the side of the head.. . and Roberts has been sent off!
12:23 , Alex Young
6min: Oh wow, Mateta is wiped out by Millwall keeper Roberts! He runs out, wins the ball but follows through with a high boot to the striker’s face.
The referee hasn’t given a card yet but VAR are having a look...
12:19 , Alex Young
3min: Palace on the ball in the early stages. We few nice touches from Mateta, looking to find Munoz, before Eze wins a free kick which comes to nothing.
Kick-off!
12:16 , Alex Young
1min: Here we go!
12:12 , Alex Young
Right, here come the teams!
Alex Neil on Millwall chances
12:12 , Alex Young
“We’re confident, that’s the best way to describe it. We’ve been in reasonable form and come into the game believing in what we are doing.
“We’re not daft, we know we are playing a different calibre of opposition today, but we are looking forward to the challenge.”
Oliver Glasner on team news
12:11 , Alex Young
“It’s the round of 16, ahead of the quarter-final and two steps away from the final at Wembley. All the teams are playing their strongest teams, and so are we.
“I expect a completely difference game [to the win over Aston Villa]. We have to find solutions in the final third after a very compact Millwall side.
“They are great in transitions, so we will need a very good performance today.”
12:05 , Alex Young
Selhurst Park is already rammed. Not long to go now.
Esse chomping at the bit
11:54 , Alex Young
One player who will be hoping to get on the pitch today is Romain Esse, who swapped Millwall for Palace during the January transfer window.
Born in Lambeth, the young winger climbed through Millwall’s academy and went on to make 61 league appearance for the club. He then scored with his first touch in the Premier League for Palace.
11:46 , Alex Young
It’s a sell out today.

Strong teams
11:30 , Alex Young
So, Guehi has shaken off an injury scare to start in what is a strong line-up from Glasner.
Munoz, Eze, Sarr and Mateta also get the nod, with Chilwell at left wing-back.
Millwall are also not messing around, naming a strong side at Selhurst.

Head to head
10:41 , Alex Young
As mentioned above, there is just eight miles separating these two clubs but they rarely meet.
This is only their second meeting in 12 years thanks in part to the Eagles’ establishing themselves as top-flight stalwarts, as the Lions flitted between Championship play-off hopefuls and mid-table dwellers - plus two seasons in League One.
Their last meeting came in 2022, also in the FA Cup, which Palace won 2-1 thanks to first-half goals from Michael Olise, now at Bayern Munich, and Jean-Philippe Mateta, now one of the Premier League’s star strikers.
Oliver Glasner on Matt Turner starting today
10:30 , Alex Young
“Matt was in the goal both games, and he will be starting. But that’s the same. It’s not a gift. He’s just deserving.
“I can see his ambition in training. He’s always giving 100 per cent in every single training [session]. He also deserves some games, and that’s why he will play tomorrow.
“He knew [Dean Henderson was No1] when he arrived. We were always pretty clear. That doesn’t mean he is [second-choice] for the rest of his life, but of course I will never change a goalkeeper if he makes one or two mistakes because they need this confidence. They are so exposed.
“It’s the same with a striker. If he misses one or two chances, you can’t say: ‘Now, you won’t play’. If he never gets chances, okay, you can think about it. But these players need confidence, need trust. I don’t like to change.
“We have two great goalkeepers — two international goalkeepers — and also Remi [Matthews] as the third one, who is really hard-working in every single training [session]. They deserve to play games, and that’s why it is Matt’s time.”
10:22 , Alex Young
It’s a foggy morning in south east London.
Score prediction
10:15 , Alex Young
Just like this time last season, Crystal Palace are kicking into gear at the right time and warmed up for this cup tie by knocking four past Aston Villa. Millwall could scarcely have been drawn against Palace at a worse time.
Confidence is high at Selhurst, but Millwall will be relatively hopeful of pulling off a cupset having beaten Championship leaders Leeds in the last round despite slightly concerning performance against relegation fodder Derby last time out.
Crystal Palace to win, 2-0.
Millwall team news
10:08 , Alex Young
For Millwall, they will be without three cup-tied players in Aaron Connolly, Tristan Crama and Benicio Baker-Boaitey.
The win at Derby also served up a couple of fitness issues, with left-back Joe Bryan forced off with a cut to his foot while Ra'ees Bangura-Williams missed out entirely. The pair, along with Ryan Leonard remain doubts.
Crystal Palace team news
10:00 , Alex Young
Oliver Glasner is expected to pick a strong team for this FA Cup tie with a week’s rest afterwards before facing Ipswich in the Premier League. Cup keeper Matt Turner will start but it should otherwise be a fairly full-strength team. Will Hughes is suspended after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season.
Marc Guehi will be fit for the game in a huge boost for Palace. Guehi received treatment on a knee injury following Palace’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa but is available here. Glasner has also confirmed former Millwall player Romain Esse is in line to get minutes, as well as Matheus Franca. Adam Wharton could be rested.
