Crystal Palace XI vs Aston Villa: Confirmed team news, starting lineup, injury latest for Premier League game
James Tomkins and James McArthur both miss Crystal Palace’s Premier League meeting with Aston Villa today as manager Patrick Vieira returns to a back-four formation.
The Eagles’ typical 4-2-3-1 system yielded a defeat at home to Arsenal to open the new Premier League season before a tactical switch-up helped earn a strong point at Liverpool last time out.
Vieira has opted for an extra attacker, with Nathaniel Clyne missing out and Odsonne Edouard coming into the line-up.
That means Wilfried Zaha moves back out to the winger, after his impressive display as a lone striker at Anfield. Edouard will go through the middle, with Zaha in a more familiar left-wing role. Eberechi Eze was superb in midfield against Liverpool and he starts there once again.
Nathan Ferguson (ankle), Jack Butland (hand), James MacArthur (hip) and James Tomkins (muscle) will continue to miss out.
Crystal Palace XI: Guaita; Ward, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell; Doucoure, Eze, Schlupp; Ayew, Edouard, Zaha
Subs: Johnstone, Whitworth, Clyne, Richards, Milivojevic, Hughes, Ebiowei, Olise, Mateta
