What Curtis Jones did to Mohamed Salah after Liverpool goal vs Lille in subtle contract message
Curtis Jones made his feelings on Mohamed Salah clear after assisting the Liverpool talisman for his goal in the Champions League clash against Lille. The Reds midfielder has been in the headlines over the last few days after making quite a surprising Eden Hazard admission in comparison to Salah.
"I know this might go a little bit left with our fans because the comparison is always there... But Hazard is the one [I'd pay to watch]," Jones, referencing the different styles of player, said on TNT Sports.
"I know we compare him with Mo all the time - and I've been into that with Mo. I play it from who I saw as a kid when I loved the game and I wanted to be like a player.

"I feel like it was Hazard. Every game, I'd watch him, just like; 'Wow, that's football.'
"I wouldn't say he's disrespected, but he might not come into certain [conversations] that he should. It's a talk I've had with Mo and all the lads.
"As a footballer, is he better than Mo? In my opinion, yes. But who would you rather have in your team? They're going to say Mo because he gets you your goals and assists."
Jones later clarified those comments by claiming that Salah is the one he'd rather have in his team and that was, seemingly, proven the case when the latter expertly finished a pass from Jones against Lille. Upon Liverpool winning possession back, Jones slotted a ball through to Salah and the 32-year-old finished expertly with his first touch.
The 23-year-old sprinted over to Salah in the celebrations, before pointing to the Anfield turf with his arm around Liverpool's goal-scorer - possibly sending a subtle contract hint that Salah is staying. With his current deal expiring this summer, Arne Slot was asked about him, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the game.
"If I look at the performance of the players, you have to say it is the opposite," he told Amazon Prime Video when presented with the scenario that expiring contracts often impact players negatively.
"I think Virgil [van Dijk], Mo [Salah] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] have always reached a certain standard or above. So you can also look at it if we are able to extend them, maybe we should only do it for one year [Slot laughs] - so we have the same first half of the season again."
His strike against the French side was goal number 22 of the campaign in all competitions. And, therefore, it's clear to see why Salah's teammates, such as Jones, would like him to stay.
