Michael Stewart believes even Cyriel Dessers' 20-goal season for Rangers won't stop Philippe Clement searching for a summer replacement.

The Ibrox striker hit the milestone earlier this afternoon with a winning header against St Mirren as Gers sealed three points from a narrow 2-1 win in Paisley. The Nigerian has been much maligned this term but his stats have shown his talents and Stewart, speaking on BBC Sportscene, acknowledged that 20 goals is no mean feat.

The former Hearts midfielder does, however, feel that Dessers should have netted even MORE for the club and that a hitman of a higher calibre would have done so. And that's why Clement will likely be keeping an eye on the summer transfer market to find an even more prolific and better all-round attacker.

"I still think for Rangers, they need someone that's better up there. Yes he's banged in 20 goals this season but his all round play, I'd be looking for more from a centre-forward who plays for Rangers," Stewart said.

"The amount of chances the team create as well, I think it's an area I'd imagine Philippe Clement will be looking to strengthen in the summer.

"As much as you can talk about the stats for Dessers, the goals he's scored, I think his all round game needs to be better. And I think someone of a higher calibre would be scoring more goals."
