Cyriel Dessers is the subject of interest from TWO Serie A outfits, according to a report .

The Rangers striker has fallen down the pecking order under Philippe Clement with Hamza Igamane the first choice striker with Danilo either partnering his colleague or coming in from the bench over the Nigeria international. Dessers' time at Ibrox has been one of frustrations for the Light Blues faithful. He boasts a decent enough scoring record with 34 goals in 84 appearances for the club but it is viewed by supporters and pundits alike that his numbers should be north of that figure with the amount of opportunities he's passed up.

Now, Sky Italy report that Cagliari are in the hunt for reinforcements for Davide Nicola and the attacking area of the pitch has been identified to help their fight to stay in Italy's top flight. That has the club setting their sights on Dessers - who previously played in the country at Cremonese.

However, top flight rivals Empoli are also interested in his services. That will come as good news from a Rangers point of view if they decide to cash in as it could spark a bidding war between the Serie A rivals and put much-needed funds into Clement's pocket in a bid to boost his own ranks in this window. A defensive crisis continues to hit his squad and that is viewed as an area of top priority with a host of names like Grant Hanley, Jonny Evans, Ryan Porteous and Nikola Katic already mentioned.

Meanwhile, Nathan Patterson looks like he will be handed the chance to revive his Everton career. He left Rangers in a big money move to the struggling Toffees but he's suffered from spells out of the team and injuries. Sean Dyche was sacked from his position yesterday and then just hours later the Scotland cap was handed his first start of the campaign in the FA Cup win over Peterborough.

His involvement could come as a blow to any potential chances of a return to Ibrox in this window. A new manager is also due at the club with David Moyes believed to be the top target over an emotional return to Goodison Park. That could spark Patterson's first-team chances and kill off any potential exit from the club this month.

Speaking of transfers and it looks set to be a busy month in Govan. New CEO Patrick Stewart is due to address the fans with plans for the month ahead but deals have already kicked off. Cole McKinnon has hooked up with Celtic hero Scott Brown at Ayr United for the remainder of the season and Adam Devine and Alex Lowry are two who are also up for grabs. Others including Dessers could leave in the coming weeks to free up funds for players coming the other way.
