Damian Vidagany identifies 'beautiful moment' as Aston Villa wrap up transfer business
Aston Villa director of football operations Damian Vidagany has applauded the behind the scenes efforts at Bodymoor Heath as the club concluded their transfer dealings at the end of the January transfer window. Villa brought in Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio and Axel Disasi in the final 48 hours of the window to complement the additions of Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia.
Villa had conducted something of a clear-out prior to those late arrivals; Jhon Duran, Jaden Philogene and Diego Carlos all left the club on a permanent basis, while Emiliano Buendia headed a long list of Villa players to depart on loan - the likes of Lewis Dobbin and Louie Barry got new moves, while Kadan Young and Kosta Nedeljkovic went abroad.
Unai Emery, speaking after the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, confirmed that additions were necessary if they were to compete in the area of the Premier League table which they are aiming for, and in which they did so impressively last season. In Monchi and Vidagany, Villa formed a recruitment team who have managed to get deals done domestically and abroad.

"Your devotion, passion, loyalty and demand feeds our ambition. Up the Villa and trust the process," he posted. "The process it is not about signings. It is about the beautiful moment of AVFC. This confidence in what we are doing. With mistakes and imperfections. Up and downs. We have NSWE, committed owners, @leonsfdo, experienced and sharp management team and staff, an amazing squad."
Villa now prepare for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup this coming weekend and are able to call on a number of their new signings to feature; while Disasi is cup-tied as he played in Chelsea's 5-0 win over Morecambe in the last round, Rashford and Asensio could make their debuts.
