Tottenham target Dani Olmo wants to stay at Barcelona, despite the fact he is not registered with the Spanish club. The Spaniard only joined Barca for £50million from RB Leipzig in the summer.

However, the Catalans' dire financial situation means they could only register him - and young forward Pau Victor - for the first half of the season. Barca are working under tight financial constraints implemented by La Liga after demonstrating a whopping £1billion in debt.

League officials gave Barcelona special dispensation to add Olmo to their squad until December 31. But they have rejected Barca's attempts to register him for the remainder of the campaign. Olmo, 25, is said to have a clause in his contract that allows him to depart if he is unable to play.

And Tottenham are among those that are reportedly ready to try and sign the talented attacking midfielder. Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are also said to be interested in Olmo, who has scored six goals and added one assist in 15 matches this season.

However, according to reports from Spain, Olmo is not keen on a move to Tottenham and he is hoping to stay at Barcelona beyond the January transfer window. Although Olmo cannot play for Barca right now, he is keen to stick put in Catalonia and see if a resolution can be found.

Last week, his agent Andy Bara told Fabrizio Romano that Olmo is intent on staying at Barca despite arriving in Manchester. He said: "The decision made by Dani is to STAY at Barcelona as he wants play for Barca. We are NOT considering any other option. Dani wants to play for Barcelona."

If Olmo does move to Tottenham in January, he would add an extra dimension to their forward line. He has played as either the central attacking midfielder or the left winger at Barcelona this season and can also play as the centre forward or on the right-hand side.
