Daniel Ek proven right on Arsenal prediction under Stan Kroenke after takeover attempt
Spotify owner Daniel Ek has continued to follow Arsenal despite being unsuccessful in an attempt to buy the club in 2021. Coming at perhaps the lowest point of Stan Kroenke's time as guardian, the Swedish billionaire was considered popular.
"As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for @Arsenal as long as I can remember,"' he tweeted. "If KSE [Kroenke Sports and Entertainment] would like to sell Arsenal, I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring."
He has since gone on to strike a huge deal with Barcelona. Spotify agreed to a huge £235million deal with the Catalan side last year over the naming rights for Nou Camp. During the fallout from the European Super League shambles in April 2021, he was one figure that gained a lot of attention.
Club legend Thierry described Ek as being serious about a possible takeover. "To be able to get there [a sale], you need to have someone respond on the other side," he explained.
"It hasn't happened yet, but we and he is here to stay. So, let's see what's going to happen. But for the moment, we enjoyed the win yesterday.
"There's no dialogue at the moment and I feel it's going to be a long process. I said this the last time I was on the show [Monday Night Football]. How long it's going to be, I don't actually know. But we are here to stay."

Arsenal have been transformed since though. Under Josh Kroenke - who has taken on a role with increased importance - there has been a marked improvement on the pitch. Sporting director Edu Gaspar has helped to lead the turnaround and Mikel Arteta fronting the club as head coach has risen to be one of the standout managers in the world.
It was with this in mind that Ek predicted them to once more be in the title race this season when he was asked in the summer. "Well obviously I will say Arsenal, finishing second - looking really good for next season," he said. "So I think it’ll be between Arsenal and City again with Liverpool maybe in fourth, unless there will be some key signings."
He couldn't have been much more correct, as it turns out. Liverpool have led the way for a large chunk of the campaign only to fall off in recent weeks. They will almost certainly be third at least come May 19.
Arsenal, meanwhile, currently top the table having shaken off damaging defeats to both Aston Villa and Bayern Munich. The Gunners do not have the title in their hands but have put all the pressure possible onto Manchester City to keep the juggernaut going.
The Kroenke's - who were in Germany two weeks ago for the Champions League quarter-final second leg - are aiming to complete a remarkable set of achievements as sporting owners. Since 2020 KSE has seen NBA and NFL franchises Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Rams win their respective national titles. Now it is over to Arsenal to complete the set.
