Leeds United will remain top of the Championship table ahead of the weekend thanks to Tuesday’s professional job on Watford.

The 4-0 win took them five points clear at the summit of the table and, most importantly, eight points clear of Burnley in third and the play-off positions. Both the Clarets and Sheffield United play tonight.

Daniel James took the headlines with his brace at Vicarage Road with Joel Piroe and Manor Solomon also adding to their tally.

Farke said it was not a perfect performance, with a few elements he would like to improve in his team’s play, but was happy with how clinical his attackers were. Here are three things United supporters may have missed.

Farke’s instructions

Farke was quite active on the sidelines throughout the game. He was seen gesturing to Solomon numerous times in the first half, seemingly wanting him to curve his runs.

At one stage, he looked furious with United’s play around the box, although it is not clear what precisely this was about. And this was at 3-0 up.

Either way, in the first passage of play in the second half, he gave Solomon a big thumbs up for his initial movement perhaps hinting that a half-time chat was had. Farke kept clapping his team on during the second half too, insisting that they continue to press despite the heavy advantage already achieved.

An unexpected visitor

There was a surprise inclusion in United’s pre-match warm-up routine. Leeds were going through their usual exercises and stretches by the touchline to get the juices flowing.

Before long, they were joined by an unexpected guest - Harry the Hornet, Watford’s club mascot. He was seen loosening up his limbs and following the direction of the coach alongside United's players.

He certainly raised a few smiles in the stands. He later led a young Leeds United mascot over to the away end to receive a big round of applause from Whites fans ahead of kick-off. A really nice touch.

Farke the celebration orchestrator

Supporters who had travelled south were treated to the usual post-match fist pumps from the players - James in this case - and arm-raises from Farke upon a win. The manager’s name rang out among a sold-out away end after full-time.

The whole group also partook in unified arm raises, coming forward together in a line before doing the three cheers. What supporters may have missed is that it was Farke who told his players to do it - and made sure his staff members got involved too.

Speaking afterwards, Farke made reference to the fact that he is the manager of Leeds ‘United’ and how everyone has to be on the same page in order to achieve success. It certainly seems that this is the case at Elland Road. In the words of the boss himself: So far, so good.
