Leeds United are flying at the top of the Championship. Victory at play-off chasing Coventry City last night saw the Whites take another step towards securing promotion.

A 13-match unbeaten league run has put the Whites in control of their own destiny. They are five points clear of Burnley and Sheffield United in the race to go up.

Their success has been built on a strong defence. Daniel Farke's troops have recorded an impressive 19 clean sheets in 31 outings. Much-maligned goalkeeper Illan Meslier produced two crucial saves to keep the Sky Blues at bay as United kept a sixth consecutive shut out for the first time since April 1981, according to Opta stat man and Whites supporter Jonny Cooper.

Striker Joel Piroe, who opened the scoring at the CBS Arena, said: "Sometimes, it's extra difficult for him [Meslier] if you don't have to do much the whole game and then suddenly you have to be there with a save and he did outstanding today and really helped us as well."

Right-back Jayden Bogle, the scorer of United's second goal, also praised their defensive organisation against Coventry. “It was a good performance from us," Bogle told LUTV. “We probably should have scored a few more goals but it's a good result. I just started driving with it and it opened up, got into the box and thought I'd overrun it but it just fell to me again. A bit of composure to put it away. The keeper had it and it just fell back out so I slotted it in.

“It was a bit more difficult in the first half, they were compact but we managed to find a way through. Obviously in the second-half, with the lead, it opened up a bit more to create more space for us. Another clean sheet and when you keep clean sheets you've got every chance of winning games. The more we can keep, the more we can win.”
