Daniel Farke outlines 'only criticism' in what Leeds United did at Burnley as Rodon praised

Daniel Farke believes his Leeds United attackers could have shown more bravery against Burnley on Monday night, albeit recognised the valuable point against the hosts given their defensive record.

The Clarets now have 20 clean sheets and have conceded just nine times all season, and Farke was mindful that Scott Parker’s side would be tough to break down. He said last week that he believed his team should remain patient but clinical when an opening came.

While United did the former, there were not many chances to do the latter. The only shot on target throughout the game for both sides came in the 88th minute with Daniel James forced James Trafford to tip over a powerful effort.

Speaking after full-time, Farke said he was pleased with the point but had hoped that his side would have been more ambitious during the match. “They are on a massive unbeaten run so if you come away with a point it's always a good result,” Farke said.

“Both teams were there without crucial mistakes and struggled to create a lot of chances. With the ball, I wish in the final third we were more confident. When a chance comes along you have to be more on it.

“When it came down to the final pass, I think we could have been more committed and better prepared. That's the only thing I could criticise. But a good result for us.”

Meanwhile, Joe Rodon started his 29th consecutive Championship match this season and kept another clean sheet after a stellar showing. That’s now three league clean sheets in a row for United, who have been without Pascal Struijk for all three.

“Yes, Joe deserves lots of praise, like our whole defence," said Farke. "The midfield and offensive players also played their part.

"It feels like Joe has not conceded a yellow card for 20 games. Joe is a key player for us and for me one of the best central defenders in this league, no doubt about this.”
