Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge doesn’t believe Mohamed Salah is playing his final season at Liverpool after seeing his celebration against Manchester United.

Salah was once again on the scoresheet as the Reds faced their great rival, although the Egyptian’s second half penalty wasn’t enough to send Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.

He put Liverpool ahead from the spot after Cody Gakpo had equalized following Lisandro Martinez’s opener, but Amad Diallo struck to earn a struggling United side an unexpected point.

The goal takes Salah to 21 goals in all competitions this season to go along with 17 assists, having played just 27 times. Nevertheless, there are still fears around Anfield that this could be his last season in a red shirt.

The 32-year-old is yet to sign a new deal, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season. Despite recent reports suggesting a new three-year deal had been agreed, Salah has admitted that he and the club are still far apart in their discussions.

With Salah also repeatedly saying that he is making the most of what could be his final season at Anfield, it has been suggested that his elongated celebration after scoring against United may have pointed to him knowing his time at the club may be coming to an end. His former teammate disagrees though.

Analyzing his penalty for Sky Sports, Sturridge said: “The power of Mo, it was never in doubt. Mo is that guy man.”

Moving on to the celebration, Sturridge added: “You’ve got to lap it up haven’t you? Look at the smile on his face, he’s just like ‘you know who I am, you know what I do, you know it’s me again.”

Fellow pundit Roy Keane chimed in: “It’s amazing, we talk about him a lot, but there’s not many players in world football who can guarantee the amount of goals and assists he gets. It’s just fantastic.”

Asked whether Salah’s long celebration may have been due to him knowing it’s his final season at Liverpool, Sturridge responded: “I don’t think so. I don’t know, I just feel as if he’s enjoying himself more than I’ve seen him in the last few years.”
