Darts star makes feelings clear over Premier League snub after Gerwyn Price decision
Mike De Decker has expressed his disappointment after being left out of the 2025 Premier League Darts line-up. 'The Real Deal' was snubbed by the PDC for this year's 17-week event despite winning the World Grand Prix in October.
De Decker, 29, romped to his first-ever major title at The Mattioli Arena in Leicester after beating Damon Heta, Gary Anderson, James Wade, Dimitri van den Bergh and Luke Humphries. Since then, the Belgian progressed past the group phase in the Grand Slam and had a tremendous run to the quarter-final at the Players Championship.
However, De Decker did not live up to expectations at the World Championship last month. Tipped as one of the fancied players to have a real run at Alexandra Palace, De Decker suffered a shock second round exit to Luke Woodhouse before Christmas, losing 3-1 having averaged a below par 87.38.

That, alongside 'not being ready', has contributed to his exclusion from the Premier League. Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Stephen Bunting, Chris Dobey, Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price, who is the only Welshman included, have been picked instead of De Decker.
And De Decker has made his feelings clear on being left out. After a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, showed De Decker becoming the first player in the 20-year history of the Premier League to win a major televised on Sky Sports and not be selected in the line-up, he posted an Instagram story with the face with rolling eyes emoji.
Although De Decker is not in the Premier League, Cardiff-born Price is. 'The Iceman' has endured a difficult couple of years but had a resurgence at the World Championship, beating Keane Barry, Joe Cullen and fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton to reach the quarter-final. However, Price exited the tournament against Chris Dobey.
Despite dropping down to no.10 in the world, Price has still done enough to be included in the Premier League, which is due to start at The SSE Arena, Belfast on Thursday, February 6 and end at The O2, London on Thursday, May 29. Price's home event is at the Utilita Arena, Cardiff on Thursday, March 20.
