Darwin Nunez actions 24 hours after Liverpool heroics speak volumes as new challenge emerges
Twenty-fours on from his match-winning heroics and Darwin Nunez was clearly still buzzing. Sunday might have been a day off for the Liverpool squad who beat Brentford the previous day but Nunez was desperate to stay immersed in the action as he re-lived the joys of his stoppage-time brace.
Nunez spent the majority of his Sunday evening uploading all the celebration images from Saturday's game to his Instagram Story and was keen to soak up every last drop of what could yet become famous scenes at the end of this increasingly intriguing Premier League campaign.
The victory was enough to take the Reds seven clear of title rivals Arsenal before the Gunners were held at home by Aston Villa to a 2-2 draw a few hours, and having sat out Tuesday's draw with Nottingham Forest through suspension, this was the ideal way to announce your return.

It's often been said that Nunez is a player who acts on impulse and plays on emotion and the evident wearing of his heart on his sleeve is one of the major reasons he still retains a large groundswell of support within the club's fanbase, even if his performances have been debated almost at every turn during his two-and-a-half-year stay at Anfield to date.
The beaming smile on the No.9's face as filed out of the Gtech Community Stadium revealed a lot about his afternoon, but his comments to Sky Sports - delivered in Spanish to reporter Natalie Gedra - were also hugely revealing about his more general campaign.
In that chat, he explained that he feels his performances have not hit the heights this term but vowed not to throw in the towel just yet and the words only endeared him further to many who have stuck by him during a difficult campaign that had seen him register just two goals prior to Saturday's late intervention.
Clearly riding the crest of the wave, Nunez's Sunday was a happy one as he poured over the best images and the uploads to his story, around half a dozen in total, were further evidence of a player who is acutely tuned-in to what is happening across social media.
That means that for every positive image of him celebrating his goals, Nunez will likely have viewed a less-than-favourable critique of his more general performances and it possibly explains why the former Benfica striker has previously removed all Liverpool-related images off his account, turned his profile to private and restricted comments at various points.
It might be easy for supporters of a certain generation to dismiss the discourse online as something players should easily ignore and, like Jurgen Klopp before him, Arne Slot is likely to view social media as something he rather his players didn't look at during the course of the season.
But this is the same player who was moved to post about 'resiliencia' (resilience) after one of his early pre-season outings as a Liverpool player brought with it some negative hot-takes and mocking from rival fans online. For better or worse, this is who 25-year-old Nunez is; a player Steve McManaman referred to as a "full-blooded South American" over the weekend.
It's why all the positive posts, from the likes of Mohamed Salah on Saturday, and the public backing of his colleagues can all help to foster the confidence that was clearly coursing through Nunez when he took his second goal with an excellent first touch and even better finish in the 93rd minute. "As team-mates and as friends, we are over the moon for him," Harvey Elliott said. "He deserves it.”
If the weight of evidence concludes that Nunez is indeed an emotional performer though, then he will be entering this week full of positive feelings and ready to build on Saturday's important contribution.
With Diogo Jota absent from training on Monday and expected to miss Tuesday's visit from Lille in the Champions League, there may never come a better time for Nunez to use as a springboard towards a more sustained run both in the team and on the goal trail.
Achieve that and he will have dozens more images to choose from for his Instagram uploads. Social media might just become a happier space him in the process.
