Darwin Nunez Liverpool exit takes fresh 'twist' as huge £19m transfer 'decision' made
Darwin Nunez has proven his value to Arne Slot with two very different performances in a Liverpool shirt over the five days. As the Reds searched for a late winner against Brentford in Premier League action this past weekend, Nunez stepped up off the bench to score twice in stoppage time.
Following his excellent 25-minute cameo, the Uruguay international started the 2-1 Champions League victory against Lille, which saw him put in a tireless display but with little reward. Despite that, he has seemingly shown Slot that he has a part to play on Merseyside.
The first two seasons of his career at Anfield have been turbulent, to say the least, and with that, transfer exit rumours have followed. Interest from Spain, Italy and Saudi Arabia has emerged, but it now looks as though the latter may instead be focused on bringing a different striker to the Middle East.

According to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, several clubs are monitoring Victor Boniface’s situation at Bayer Leverkusen and are considering a January offer if a move for Nunez does not materialise. In terms of potential incomings, it currently looks unlikely that Liverpool will welcome any new signings.
However, unique market opportunities could change that stance, with Rayan Cherki of Lyon certainly being one of those. Due to the French club's difficult financial predicament, an exit for Cherki at a cheaper price is a real possibility, with journalist Fabrizio Romano revealing there is a gentlemen’s agreement between him and Lyon.
“He [Cherki] has a release clause. It’s not a proper clause, but it’s a gentleman’s agreement – made with the president of Olympique Lyon, John Textor, in the summer when he signed a new contract at Olympique Lyon – for £19million (€22.5m)," he revealed via Give Me Sport.
"My information is that at the moment, there is still nothing really close. There could be movement with Liverpool at the moment. The appreciation of the player in terms of scouting him has been there, because they’ve been following the player.”
“They are always following talents, but at the moment, I’m not aware of a proper negotiation between Liverpool and Olympique Lyon for Cherki.” Currently it appears as though it is just interest from Liverpool but that could certainly change over the coming days.
