Darwin Nunez looks to be more connected to his Liverpool teammates than ever following his late game-winning brace against Brentford.

The 25-year-old hasn't had the easiest time at Liverpool since he joined them for a whopping £64m in 2022. Initially deemed as a competitor to Erling Haaland, he hasn't lived up to those standards with only four goals in 16 Premier League games.

Despite this record, he holds a special place in the hearts of the Anfield support. This is because he has a history of scoring crucial goals, and his two beyond 90 minutes against Brentford exemplified that.

Last season he did a similar thing against Newcastle as a substitute to beat the Magpies 2-1. Moments like this can bring a team closer together, and it looks to have done exactly that.

Ibrahima Konate had posted a picture on Instagram of himself alongside Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai with the caption: "Taking the points back to Anfield."

Nunez brilliantly commented on the post with two very effective words: "Mi hermano." When translated to English, this means: "My brother."

Although to an outsider it could just be seen as a nice comment, it highlights a sense of togetherness in a time where the strikers future was being questioned. Arne Slot has denied that Nunez was playing for his future this season and instead wanted to focus on how to get the most out of the Uruguayan.

Other Liverpool players also joined in with celebrating Nunez. Alexis Mac Allister captioned his own social media post: "Matches are won with effort, teamwork... and a Darwin Nunez in fire mode. We keep moving forward." Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also shared photos of their striker.

Following the Brentford game, it all might have changed for the 25-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

"I think you have to stay mentally strong, never give up," he said after the Brentford game. "Yes, there are moments that are very difficult for us players, for me, it's right now.

"But I never throw the towel in. I always carry on working. "In training, if I need to stay and practice more, I stay to improve.

"I think the work that I do on the pitch to help the team to defend as well. "I think I've always done it well but I haven't scored goals and I know people look at that. The striker has to score goals."
