Darwin Nunez told he is weak link in Liverpool title bid as Saudi teams chase transfer
Speculation continues around the future of Darwin Nunez, with the striker having now been told he could be a weak link in Liverpool’s push for the Premier League title.
It hasn’t been a stellar season for Nunez by any means, with just four goals from 24 appearances across all competitions, and he has fallen down the pecking order under Arne Slot, with the Liverpool boss seemingly preferring Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the No.9 role now.
Now in his third season at Anfield, patience among some supporters does seem to be wearing thin for Nunez. Although the Uruguay international has improved his work off the ball under Jurgen Klopp and now Slot, he is still exhibiting the same problems with his finishing since he made the move to Merseyside.

That, former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha believes, makes him a weak link in Liverpool’s forward line, with Nunez not offering Slot what he needs in Liverpool’s attempts to win the title this season.
“When you think about Liverpool and some of their goalscorers and those who have big impacts on games, obviously [Mohamed] Salah is the big shining light when it comes to goals, but also look at the likes of Jota, he’s one of the best finishers Liverpool have had in recent years,” Onuoha told ESPN FC.
“You see an in-form [Cody] Gakpo, you see Luis Diaz playing down the middle, you see that the end-product is going to be there, whereas with Darwin Nunez, all the effort and stuff is there, but we’re talking about a team trying to win the Premier League title.
“Effort shouldn’t be your strongest asset at that particular moment, you need the quality there. Would I feel confident seeing Nunez starting over Diogo Jota? Probably not.”
Onuoha’s comments come as fresh reports suggest Nunez could be set for a move to Saudi Arabia.
According to Anfield Watch, there is interest from the Saudi Pro League in the 25-year-old, and a move is ready to be made, with major changes afoot in the Middle East. A number of big names are being linked with exits from the league, including Neymar, whose contract at Al-Hilal expires in the summer - although there is an option in his contract for an extra year.
Saudi sides are limited to the number of foreign players they can have in their sides, with plenty of teams needing to offload some of their big names before they can make a move for the likes of Nunez.
No specific teams are mentioned in the report, but it’s claimed that there is a desire from the Pro League to sign Nunez, with the striker supposedly not ruling out the idea.
