Date set for Hull KR's Challenge Cup clash despite uncertainty over opponents
A date for Hull KR's Challenge Cup third-round clash has been locked in - despite the fact the Robins don't yet know their opponents. Willie Peters' side will have their first competitive game of the season next week as they enter the knockout competition, taking on either Keighley Cougars or York Knights.
The other second-round matches all took place last week, however, the game between Keighley and York did not go ahead as a result of the Knights' involvement in the Amsterdam Challenge. They were given special dispensation to rearrange the game as the pre-season fixture with Rovers had been agreed months ahead of the Challenge Cup revamp and the schedule being announced.
As a result, the two Yorkshire clubs will battle it out this Sunday for the right to play the Robins, and while the identity of the opposition still remains up in the air, a date has been fixed regardless.

Rovers have had discussions with both clubs and they have both agreed to play the match on Friday, February 7th. Of course, the venue for the clash has yet to be determined, with the victorious side on Sunday set to host the game.
Elsewhere, lower league clubs have relocated their fixtures to bigger grounds, with amateur club Wests Warriors agreeing to play Leeds Rhinos at Headingley, rather than their home ground. It is unclear what Keighley's stance is on that matter, though sources at York have confirmed they would want to host the tie at the LNER Community Stadium if they are to advance.
Friday night was Rovers' ideal outcome given they play Castleford Tigers a week later in the Super League opener. A Sunday fixture would have meant they had a short turnaround heading into the fixture.
Willie Peters has indicated that he will field his strongest team in the Challenge Cup in what will be a final hit-out ahead of the big kick-off.
