David Ajiboye returns to Peterborough as City loan comes to an end
DAVID AJIBOYE has returned to Peterborough United following the conclusion of his loan spell with York City.
Ajiboye joined York in November on a short-term loan, with the winger re-uniting with manager Adam Hinshelwood having played under the boss in a spell at Worthing.
Since the pair had previously worked together, Ajiboye had gone on to represent Sutton United and Peterborough, who he joined on a permanent deal in 2022.
After Peterborough had confirmed that the winger would be transfer listed this season, City added Ajiboye to their ranks on loan.
Since joining in November, Ajiboye has made seven appearances in the National League for the Minstermen, scoring once.
That goal came in the 3-0 win over Southend United, after flicking Malachi Fagan-Walcott's header past Collin Andeng Ndi to confirm a comfortable three points.
He also featured for York twice in the FA Trophy, scoring a one-on-one against Pete Jameson in a win against Darlington.
The 26-year-old now returns to Peterborough, with Hinshelwood previously commenting: "I think it’s in a good place, we’ve got David Ajiboye’s loan coming to an end pretty soon so we’ll look at what that looks like.
“We’ll have a good chat with him and see where he’s at with it, his contract is up at Peterborough at the end of the season so we’ll have a look at that.
“We don’t want to take someone if they’re not going to add to the squad."
