David Moyes confirms former Liverpool midfielder has joined his Everton coaching staff
Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has joined David Moyes' new-look coaching team at Everton. The ex-Blackpool captain has moved into coaching since retiring in 2022 and was most recently the manager of League Two side Fleetwood Town.
Adam moves to Goodison Park as a set-piece coach while Alan Irvine has also become Moyes' assistant. Now 39, Adam played 28 times for Liverpool between 2011 and 2012 before moving on to Stoke City. He also played 26 times for his country, Scotland.
"I'm delighted to have been able to add Alan and Charlie to our coaching staff," Moyes said. "Obviously, Alan is somebody who I have known for a very long time and have tremendous respect for.

"His knowledge of the game, as well as his understanding of what is required at Everton — a club that means a lot to both of us — will be invaluable. Charlie is someone I have had several chats with since rejoining the club.
"He will be helping with set-piece situations, an area he excelled in as a player and one I believe he can really help us with now as a coach. The two of them, along with Billy McKinlay and Leighton Baines, give us a really strong coaching foundation as we look to make positive strides forward."
"Set piece coaches are becoming increasingly common in top-level football, such is their importance, and we're looking forward to working with Charlie," director of football Kevin Thelwell added.
Liverpool.com says: It will be strange seeing Adam in Everton training gear but it is an interesting appointment. He could take a good corner kick back in the day but it is a specialist role that he takes on with limited previous coaching experience.
