David Moyes message to Jurgen Klopp proven right as West Ham dent Liverpool title bid
West Ham manager David Moyes showed his respect for Jurgen Klopp, acknowledging the Liverpool manager's prowess before their weekend showdown. The Hammers' gaffer penned a heartfelt message to the departing Reds boss, who announced his decision to leave Anfield at the end of the season due to running out of energy
Feyenoord's Arne Slot is reportedly in the frame to replace Klopp, but the focus would have been on giving the German a fitting send-off. Despite hopes of winning the Premier League title, Liverpool's aspirations took a hit with a 2-0 defeat to Everton earlier in the week.
Liverpool aimed to recover from their setback and pursue victory against West Ham, with Moyes extending a warm welcome to Klopp and his squad. The Hammers earned a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium, courtesy of goals from Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio, and Moyes had warned that West Ham intended to further damage the Reds' title bid, as the Express reported.

In a classy move, the West Ham boss stated in his programme notes: "Today we welcome Jurgen Klopp, his staff and the Liverpool players, who are challenging for the Premier League title. English football will sadly be losing Jurgen at the end of the season. So many managers come and go over the years and some of the great ones have found it difficult to manage in the Premier League. Jurgen though, has been up there with the very best, the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.
"I have previously been the manager of two of Liverpool's biggest rival clubs but I have to mark my admiration for Jurgen and his achievements during his time at Anfield. We hope we can ruin one of his final games as Liverpool manager at London Stadium today but we still wish him all the very best for the future."
While Klopp is facing his final few games as Liverpool boss, West Ham may also be looking for a new manager at the end of the season. Reports have claimed that West Ham are contemplating replacing Moyes, who will be out of contract in the summer, with sporting coach Ruben Amorim flying to England for a meeting with the Hammers. Previously, Amorim had been linked with succeeding Klopp at Liverpool before the Reds' pursuit of Slot.
