David Raya names exact Arsenal turning point after 'worst game of my career'
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has explained that a clash with Luton Town last season was the turning point for his career in North London.
The Gunners beat the Hatters 4-3 in a thrilling clash at the beginning of December but Raya was heavily scrutinised for his role in the result. The Spaniard was at blame for two of the home team's goals and their manager Rob Edwards explained at full-time that his side had chosen to target Raya throughout the match.
"We tried to, we wanted to make it as uncomfortable as possible for them," he said. "We were probably going to have to be slightly different away from home when we play them again, but here we’ve got to use this place as a bit of a leveller and try to make it difficult for these top teams and not give them the game they want."

Mikel Arteta chose to stick with Raya and, eventually, this would force Aaron Ramsdale to leave for Southampton. Reflecting on that game, Raya admitted that it was a wake-up call for him.
"The Luton game away, it was one of the worst games in my career," he told Amazon Prime. "And then from there, I think I tried to turn it around.
"I realised I wasn’t in the right space maybe like mentally and physically. When you are the lowest, the only way is up.
"That was my mentality, just to keep working." There are few doubters of Raya at Arsenal now having secured the No.1 spot at the Emirates Stadium and winning the Golden Glove award last season.
Prior to the game against Ipswich, Raya has conceded just 16 goals in 17 Premier League appearances which included six clean sheets.
