David Strelec fee set as Slovan Bratislava official comments on Middlesbrough's interest
A Slovan Bratislava director has officially commented on Middlesbrough’s interest in striker David Strelec - revealing the asking price the club will demand if they are to sell.
Boro have identified the 23-year-old Slovakian international as a potential replacement if Emmanuel Latte Lath leaves before the end of the transfer window. Latte Lath is the subject of a bid from MLS side Atlanta United.
The situation with Boro’s top scorer has been somewhat complicated by the injury the striker suffered in Saturday’s defeat at Preston North End at the weekend. But Boro have been putting the groundwork in on targets to be prepared in the event that Latte Lath does opt to move Stateside.

As such, enquiries have been submitted to Slovan Bratislava for Strelec, who has caught the eye this season with 15 goals and six assists in 34 appearances this term, including two in the Champions League. He’s got seven goals in 28 international appearances too, registering an assist in Slovakia’s defeat to England at Euro 2024.
Now, commenting on Boro’s interest, Slovan Bratislava’s director of international relations Robert Vittek has told STVR: “Middlesbrough sent an official offer. We reflected that it is small. We haven't exactly defined the number, but I can say for us that the amount must be in the range of 8-10 million euros.
“David is at a great age, he is in the national team, he confirmed his high form during the fall, and we also want to benefit from that. The current situation is that unless it is an amount that we will accept, we will not let him go."
