On a day when much went wrong, the Rams got this right

Sunday saw a lot of things go wrong in the Coliseum. The Rams continued to be inept on offense, quarterback play was uninspiring, and Todd Gurley was stuck in the backfield. All of this yielded a 9-0 win for the Rams, the first this season.

One thing the teams got right, and it should be noted and actually celebrated: uniforms.

The Los Angeles Rams did one thing right. One thing that was terrific. They wore the classic blue and yellow uniforms that the team wore from 1973 to 1999, when they won a Super Bowl in St. Louis. It’s also the look worn by Hall of Famers Jack Youngblood, Merlin Olsen, Tom Mack, Eric Dickerson and Jackie Slater. By every measure, they were a hit with the fans, the media, and the players.

They’ll also be worn only one more time this season.

The Los Angeles Rams, for reasons making little to no sense, want to make sure those uniforms are part of the past. Regardless of the historic nature of all things related to the team being back in Los Angeles, the Rams want to put some distance between that look, and the future.

The Rams couldn’t do the right thing if it walked up and smacked them straight in the face. As such, they’ll continue to wear colors associated with the Rams days in St. Louis, not likely pleasing to fan bases in either city.

It’s a mistake. It’s what this owner and team continues to excel at.

Whether it’s a willingness to retain a coach who can’t win, or a General Manager who can’t either, it’s a pattern.

And spare me, Kevin Demoff apologists. It’s an error they knew they were making when they acknowledged that the uniforms and team colors in Los Angeles was a huge concern to the fan base here in Southern California.

They just don’t get it.

Like I said, it’s a pattern of ineptness that this team either can’t shake, or don’t recognize they need too.
