SAINTS have confirmed the loan signing of young midfielder Ízzet Furkan Malak from Sport Republic sister club Göztepe.

The 20 year old Turkey youth international signed a six-month loan on deadline day with the move pending international clearance.

Malak, who has made 14 senior appearances for Göztepe, will link up with Southampton’s under-21s as he continues his development at St Mary’s.

The move is an opportunity to assess the youngster up close ahead of the summer, when Saints could look to make a permanent deal.

Malak made his senior debut in May 2022, when he was just 17 years old, and scored his first of two senior goals against Basaksehir in the cup that year.

He is under contract until 2028 and has made just one appearance in the Super Lig this season, while appearing in both cup of their matches.
