Deadline day transfers: Moise Kean to Juventus, Édouard joins Crystal Palace
The Everton striker Moise Kean has returned to Juventus on a two-year loan that will become a permanent deal subject to certain conditions being met.
Juventus said they were paying a €7m (£6m) loan fee and that a €28m permanent deal had been agreed to take effect after the 2022-23 season, with a possible €3m in add-ons to follow.
The 21-year-old Kean joined Everton from Juventus in 2019 and scored four goals in 39 appearances for the Premier League club. He had a successful loan loan at Paris Saint-Germain last season and had been linked with a move back there before Lionel Messi’s arrival.
Meanwhile, Odsonne Édouard has joined Crystal Palace from Celtic for £14m and signed a four-year contract. “I’m very happy to be here today,” he told Palace’s website. “I can’t [wait] start to train with the team and to play for this club… Scoring goals in the Premier League may be the biggest challenge in my career. But I’m confident in myself and my teammates to be successful.”
Édouard played under Palace’s new development coach Saïd Aïgoun in Paris Saint-Germain’s youth sides and had one season left on his contract. It is understood PSG are due a cut of the fee for a player who spent seven years with them before moving to Celtic.
Palace also held talks with Sassuolo over the former Chelsea forward Jérémie Boga but were not willing to pay the €20m asking price.
Leicester have signed the winger Ademola Lookman on a season’s loan from RB Leipzig. The 23-year-old was on loan at Fulham last season and has also played in England’s top division for Everton. Leicester earlier sent the midfielder Dennis Praet on loan to Torino.
Jordan Henderson has signed a new contract with Liverpool, understood to run to 2025. He is the sixth senior player to extend his deal in the last few weeks after Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Alisson, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson. Liverpool’s centre-back Rhys Williams has joined Swansea on loan after also signing a new contract.
Burnley have signed the Wales defender Connor Roberts from Swansea on a four-year deal.
