Dean Huijsen has already dropped clear transfer hint amid Newcastle and Liverpool interest
Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen could be set for an interesting summer. The former Juventus defender has wasted no time in establishing himself as one of the Premier League's most exciting defensive prospects after a series of impressive performances for the Cherries.
His form has put him on the transfer radar of several clubs - Newcastle United reportedly among them - with talk of a big-money move at the end of the season. His rise has been spectacular, following a move from Italy in 2024. The 20-year-old didn't even make it on to the pitch in Newcastle's 1-1 draw with Andoni Iraola's side back in August, but was a star man in their 4-1 St James' Park win in January.
However, if clubs expect to be able to prise him away from the south coast easily, then they may need to think again. While the Vitality Stadium may not be the most fashionable place to play, Huijsen has hinted that he is already excited about the future at Bournemouth. Iraola has his side on course for European competition next season, and it's something the Spain Under-21 international would love to achieve.

"We're doing well and I think we can qualify for Europe," he told The Guardian. "We have the quality and the potential. Who wouldn't want to play in Europe? I think everyone would like that. It would go down in the history of the club. It would be great for all of the players, fans and everyone involved.
"I think it is realistic with how we are playing. We are doing well and all of the stats show that it's not just luck and we deserve to be here. We just need to keep on working hard, stay humble and continue proving ourselves."
One man who has not been surprised by Huijsen's form is his manager Iraola, who feels he can get even better. Speaking last year, he said: "I think he has shown from the beginning that he can do this. He plays with confidence and even though he is 19 years old (now 20) he has played a few games. But now with the injury to Marcos (Senesi), he for sure will have to play more. It is not always easy to play as a defender in the Premier League, but I hope the young players can grow together and continue their development. The good thing for them is that they have room to improve."
One thing for sure, Huijsen has big ambitions when it comes to European football. But with Bournemouth flying high in the Premier League, there is no guarantee he'll be knocking on the door looking for a move away in a few months.
