Defender ‘set for medical’ at Birmingham City as Chris Davies addresses transfer need
Experienced Scotland international Grant Hanley is reportedly set to undergo a medical at Birmingham City ahead of a prospective transfer from Norwich City.
Hanley has fallen out of favour at Carrow Road under Johannes Hoff Thorup and is available for transfer. Blues need to sign a new defender this month after loaning out Dion Sanderson to Blackburn Rovers and Hanley would provide competition to Christoph Klarer, Krystian Bielik and Ben Davies.
Norwich-based outlet the Pinkun reports that Hanley is 'believed to have travelled to the Midlands to undergo a medical and sign for Blues'. Hanley has already been linked with switches to Sheffield United and Blackburn this month.

Blues manager Chris Davies has already admitted he is targeting a replacement for Sanderson and Hanley would bring bags of experience. The 33-year-old has 59 caps for Scotland and three promotions from the Championship on his CV.
Speaking about Hanley recently, Norwich boss Thorup said: "From a selfish perspective, I want to keep him because he's a leader and he's a captain, and he's a very experienced guy; he's training well, and he's good around the young boys.
“But I can understand if he comes to me and says, ‘I want to play first team football on a regular basis’. And then, of course, we need to sit down and look at the situation. And also, of course, obviously, what kind of offers will he get in January, because I think we have to be as honest to him as possible, and, of course, also to be realistic.
"But from a selfish perspective, I would like him in the group, but I can definitely understand if something comes up that you want to look at it.”
