Josh Williams is set to be ruled out for up to six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Carlisle United's draw with Colchester United.

The right-back went down hurt late in the first half of the 0-0 draw at Brunton Park.

And head coach Mark Hughes confirmed that it was unlikely to be a short-term matter.

"It looks like he's pulled it," Hughes told the News & Star.

"If he has pinged it, it means maybe four to six weeks."

The blow will rule the former Birmingham City man out of a significant spell of Carlisle's League Two survival battle.

Hughes fielded substitute Cameron Harper in Williams' place in Saturday's draw at Brunton Park.

"I thought Cameron came on and did well on the opposite side to what he's normally exposed to," said Hughes.

"I thought he did OK, I didn't want to make too many changes... because I'd made enough, so I kept Kads [Kadeem Harris] on the left-hand side, just because he was having quite a lot of joy out there.

"I thought it was important to leave him out there, and Cameron did great on the right-hand side."

Hughes said United had been hit by illness in the build-up to the game, and Charlie McArthur was one of those players affected, hence his substitution at half-time.

Jordan Jones, meanwhile, missed the game again with a foot injury.

"He's going to be a couple of more weeks I think," said Hughes.

"It wasn't as bad as we thought, but it's not going to be a long while."
