Delighted Middlesbrough junior football clubs enjoy surprise visit from Harry Redknapp
Kader FC under-10s had a surprise spectator for their most-recent match this weekend as former Tottenham and West Ham boss Harry Redknapp watched on.
Redknapp, who gave current Boro boss Michael Carrick his senior debut at West Ham in 1999, was on Teesside ahead of ‘An Evening With’ talk show at the Darlington Hippodrome on Sunday evening and decided to head to Middlesbrough Sports Village where Kader and many other Teesside junior teams were in action.
Out of management since his final job at Birmingham City in 2017, Redknapp was perhaps best known to many of the children for his stint on I’m A Celebrity in 2018. He still keeps a keen on eye on football though and in 2021 he was spotted at a Bournemouth training session where he was said to be unofficially helping then-caretaker Cherries boss Jonathan Woodgate.

A post on Kader FC’s social media accounts shows the legendary football manager taking pictures with the Kader squad on Sunday morning, and garnered plenty of attention. He was said to have ‘fancied watching some footy’ and had plenty of time for everyone.
Kader’s club secretary Chris Hudson told Teesside Live: “He was absolutely brilliant. He had time to speak with everyone and took pictures with everyone who asked. He spent plenty of time with all the kids.
“I don’t think anyone could quite believe it was Harry Redknapp there watching play and I don’t think anyone really knew what had brought him to Middlesbrough. He’s obviously in the area and said he just fancied watching some footy.
“Our players went over to ask if they could have pictures and he was more than happy to take the time to do so. He made one of our players Scarlett’s day because he told her he thought she was a very good player. Everyone seemed delighted to see him.”
Riverside Juniors were also lucky enough to have their pictures snapped with the star. What great memories for the youngsters!
