Carlisle United fans gave us their views on X after the 2-0 home defeat to Chesterfield - here's a selection of their comments.

We need a new strategy for scoring some goals, need to get it forward earlier. Defence & midfield are OK, I know we made mistakes today but we are more solid. Disappointed to see Sadi in that position, Williams behind him may have been better. Still unsure on Vela. Need a miracle (@adydent67)

Not much between the teams, except they knew how to score and we didn't. Find a couple of goal scorers in the window and we will stay up. Don't, and we won't. (@MikeEwins)

Too many players out of position, too many mistakes with the ball. Sloppy start and carried on right through the game. Hopefully those with niggles return to start next week and MW scraps inverted WBs (@paulybell23)

A relatively ok start, beaten by pace and imagination for the 1st which we then proceeded to lack in all areas afterwards. We looked slow, apart from the occasional burst from Sadi, Guy made a bit of a difference, but we really have gone back after a month of positivity. (@Rich_W27)

Second half was better but you have to finish those chances. Georgie Kelly since he came back looks lively but has no composure at all. We need goals desperately (@MichaelNig75320)

Square pegs round holes. Again more steps back than forward. January is critical to the outcome of the season. But who would want to come to a club at the bottom of the football league? (@CUFC9495)

Need to tear up this plan and start again. It clearly isn’t working and is unlikely to at the bottom of L2. (@G_Gerard)

Is it just a coincidence that after MW says "there has been knocks on the door & conversations had" that we revert back to the awful performance of today? 5 games till transfer window & another 6 through Jan. Then prob 10 games till any ( prob lots!) new players bed in. Grim! (@Andythehood)

Bewildering team selection and set up with so many players out of position. Pedestrian pace playing out from the back will trouble no visiting team and a much more urgent, direct style of play is required. Overall a very depressing and worrying performance (@Wisey6575)

Why change a team that was starting to look settled- two weeks off! And a hangover performance to match! (@barry_maxey)

All on the manager today, formation wrong, lineup wrong. (@DavidJMitch)

Williamson has to take blame, Vela shouldn't be near the squad never mind starting, the game bypasses him. Brings Kelly on, the obvious move to put Jones wide to at least put decent balls in the box, to take him off and remove the supply to Kelly was madness. Poor all round. (@bluearmy94)

Very very poor. Strange team selection and we looked like a group of "footballers" who had never met before the game. No urgency, no desire to get the ball in the box even though we were two down. It's looking worrying. Apart from that..... (@derekbaty)

Really awful performance everybody under par and lacking belief! Lacking any sort of drive in midfield to beat the press and create. Really poor display (@granttheone)

Bad but seen worse. Dogfight now, time to put on our big boy pants and league two boots, silky passing can come later when we have the players to do it. (@malky45)

A reign of confusion, but it’s crystal clear they are in serious trouble . The worst team in the league and not just confined to stats. (@fatflags)

Starting to feel like the final days of Millen. Not quite at the "McKirdy day" stage yet, but not far off (@mtuj1974)

Possibly Wiliamson's worst day as manager given that things seemed to be improving. Why so many changes? Surely, keeping a settled side and building from that is how you improve. As it is, we looked more disjointed and confused going forward than previously. Desperate times. (@BruceVander)

Where do I start. My conclusion is that the management don't know what they are doing, this rubs off on players who also don't know what they are doing. No fire in the belly of any one involved on and off the pitch today, abysmal stuff. It is sad it has come to this. (@peterjo91525330)

12 wins from 76 league games in 21 months. The club is a joke. We are doing a Scunthorpe (@RegReagan2)

One of the worst games I’ve ever seen from us. Absolutely useless throughout. Tactically poor, players disinterested and not good enough. January again, we’ve been here before and didn’t work well last time. (@Mullen103)

Todays tactics and team selection were more baffling than the club’s decision to refuse your participation in last nights 74/75 celebration dinner, with another abysmal performance. (@MarkWard18)

A miracle and credit to our incredible support that 6,000 people are turning up to watch this. Williamson appears to be a dangerous combo of arrogant, inflexible and naive. I don't know where this team goes, other than down. A transfer window won't save us if he remains in charge. (@1StevieKilner)

Anything less than 6 points from the next 2 home games and there needs to be a change in time for the transfer window (@sanderson73_c)

Who is the ringmaster of this rather expensive circus whilst the Piataks aren't here? It's been very quiet at the top recently. (@MandyDav801)

Hear it's nice in Florida this time of year, that why they choose to be there today? The money is great but we need active owners willing to be here and tidy up this utter mess we are in!! We need more than material stuff (@Darrenblues90)

Woeful & boring display, looked okay first 15 mins, we never looked like scoring after going 0-1 down. Need to drastically pick up some wins over Christmas. (@skythelimit1970)

There's only 1 way to get out of this, play players in their proper positions and play attacking football, I would suggest a 4141 formation (@GeoffRo39583097)

I feel at zoom call from Jacksonville coming on. Any improvement we've seen over the last 4/5 games, out the winda today. Hope it wasn't the players' Christmas night out tonight. All been said...a massive disappointment (@LindaNi121202)
