Derby County at centre of £3.7m transfer claim amid complicated Oscar Fraulo clause
Derby County's hopes of landing Oscar Fraulo have been further complicated amid claims that Utrecht have the option to buy the midfielder from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Fraulo is currently on loan at Utrecht but a lack of game time with the Dutch club has sparked speculation over his future with Derby reportedly willing to sign the Danish playmaker.
But according to Bild, the situation has been made messy by the fact that a buyout clause has been inserted into his deal with Utrecht, a clause they are open to taking advantage of.
The German publication say that Derby are willing to offer 4.5m Euros (£3.7m) for the midfielder, who is under contract with Gladbach until 2026, but Utretcht are considering buying him outright before selling him at the end of the season.
The Dutch side have done this before having invoked a clause in Ryan Flamingo's contract during a loan spell from Sassuolo before selling him to PSV for nine million Euros just a few months later.
While Gladbach would stand to benefit from selling him to Derby, Utrecht do not want to end the loan. They want to keep Fraulo until the summer at a time when Gladbach are unhappy over his lack of minutes on the pitch.
Derby are eager to bolster their midfield options before the window shuts at 11pm on Monday night as they seek to boost their creativity.
Middlesbrough's Dan Barlaser is another contender for the position with the midfielder having worked under Paul Warne before at Rotherham United.
