Derby County are reportedly closing in on a second raid on Viking FK for Norwegian centre-back Sondre Langas.

According to Aftenblad, the Rams have agreed a £4.3m deal for the defender who has been capped twice by Norway. Should the move be completed, it will represent Viking's biggest sale of all time, breaking the previous record of Patrick Yazbek, who was sold to Nashville for £2.4m.

Derby have already signed Lars-Jorgen Salvesen from the Norwegian club with the striker having already scored his first goal in a 2-1 defeat at Cardiff last weekend.

Langas has been described as a right-sided ball-playing centre-back and would help fill the void left by Eiran Cashin who is closing in on a move to Premier League Brighton for around £10m.

It is reported that a medical and personal terms are yet to be finalised but should the deal go through, Langas will be Derby's third signing of the January window as they look to climb away from relegation danger at the foot of the Championship.

Langas, who can also play right-back, has won two caps for Norway with his first coming in a 2-1 win over Austria in the Nations League last September when he came on as a last-minute substitute.

He then featured again from the bench in a 5-0 win over Kazakhstan in November and he helped Viking FK finish third in the Eliteserien last season with the domestic league in Norway finishing in December.

Should the deal be completed, he will be the second centre-back that has been added to Paul Warne's squad after Matt Clarke arrived on a contract until the end of the season from Middlesbrough earlier this week.

The club is also keen on adding a central midfielder and a winger before the deadline closes at 11pm on Monday. Derby have shown an interest in Middlesbrough's Dan Barlaser and they have also been linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Oscar Fraulo.
