Derby County manager Paul Warne has been dealt a "massive blow" as two names have been added to a piling injury list at Pride Park.

The Rams suffered a fifth successive defeat in the Sky Bet Championship at the hands of Sunderland on Tuesday. Eliezer Mayenda netted the sole goal in the 28th minute.

Though there were many positives to take from what was a much improved second-half performance, Rams fans will be coming away from Pride Park even more concerned. After the full-time whistle, Warne regretfully confirmed they had suffered more injury bad luck.

Right-back Kane Wilson, who has been one of Derby's shining lights this season, picked up an injury. While Dajaune Brown, who came on as a substitute during the game and went off with what looked like a hamstring problem, will join him.

A gutted Warne explained: "Everyone has injuries but we picked up another two tonight which is hugely disappointing because Kane [Wilson] has been outstanding for us, then obviously Dajaune [Brown] who was only on the pitch a few minutes. That was a massive blow."

It looks like team selection dilemmas will continue for the Derby boss, who must galvanise his group for an important game in South Wales this weekend. They visit fellow-strugglers Cardiff City, who sit just a point above them in the table, on Saturday with kick-off at 3pm.
