Derby County receive Premier League 'bid' for star man
Derby County have received an offer for star centre back Eiran Cashin, according to a report. Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed the Seagulls have made a bid for the defender, who has emerged as a keystone in Paul Warne’s team as they fight to stay in the Championship.
Whilst the size of the bid is not specified, nor indeed is its success, it is not the first time Brighton have been keen on Cashin. Only 18 months ago they tried to prise him away from the club as the Rams were preparing to win promotion from League One at the first time of asking.
The move never materialised and the academy product stayed to do just that – help take the club back into the second tier. He has spent this season trying to keep them there. He has started 20 of the Rams’ 27 league matches and has just returned to the team after missing five games with a hamstring injury.

His partnership with Curtis Nelson has been the foundation of what Warne has achieved at Derby – but with the Nelson now out for the season, Cashin becomes even more important. It remains to be seen whether Derby can be brought to the negotiating table for a player who just 12 months ago signed a contract that runs until 2027.
Speaking last March about his transfer deadline day brush with Brighton, Cashin told DerbyshireLive: "It was such a stressful day. They were trying to sort the fee so I finished training and the gaffer (Paul Warne) said just do what you need to do. But he told me to promise him that if it didn't happen, then I had to get my head down and get up to Bolton.
“I must have spent about six hours at that Starbucks, probably even longer thinking about it. It's fair to say that I got through a few hot chocolates and a lot of calls. But the move was on, then it was off. In the end, the fee got sorted but it was just too late to organise a medical.”
