Derby County have made their first move in the January transfer market by allowing Sonny Bradley to join Wycombe Wanderers on loan until the end of the season.

The club confirmed the centre-back's switch tonight, in what is expected to be a pivotal month for both arrivals and departures. Bradley has struggled to nail down a place in Derby's first team following their promotion to the Championship and last played in the 4-2 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on New Year's Day.

The former Luton captain was substituted at half-time of the Championship clash, although he was named on the bench for the 1-0 reverse to Bristol City at the weekend.

Bradley is out of contract at Derby at the end of the season when he will likely become a free agent having signed a two-year deal with the club in the summer of 2023. He played 41 games as the Rams won promotion under Paul Warne last term and scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Leyton Orient last April.

But he has been unable to break the partnership of Curtis Nelson and Eiran Cashin, and Nat Phillips, who is on loan from Liverpool, has further restricted his chances of regular football.

Bradley's exit comes as Derby are hoping to strengthen in the window with players needing to leave the club in order to bring them in. The club is eager to bolster its attack and want Aston Villa's Louie Barry but the winger, who can also play as a striker, has numerous suitors in the Championship vying for his signature.
