Derby County have been dealt a major blow for their relegation fight after David Ozoh was ruled out for the season.

The on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder needed to be carried off on a stretcher in last Saturday's 1-0 defeat at home to Millwall.

Ozoh was subsequently sent for a scan which showed damage to his thigh and he will now sit out the remainder of Derby's campaign.

Speaking ahead of the clash against Middlesbrough this weekend, Eustace said: "Unfortunately, David will be missing for the rest of the season which is a big blow to the group.

"He is a fantastic player, and in my short period working with him, you can see he has great quality.

"He is going to be a miss but he is going to stay around the group and again in my short time being with him, he is a gentleman and a lovely lad.

"He will be great around the rest of the players. It's a blow, but this is the Championship and the nature of the game.

"It will give somebody else the opportunity to step up and whoever it is will be excited to make an impact."

News of Ozoh's injury compounds what has been a difficult season for the teenager who has proven an influential player when fit.

He started the season with real quality and produced an exceptional performance in the 3-0 win over Bristol City which remains the Rams' best performance of the season.

But he picked up a hamstring injury in the win over Cardiff and just before he was about to return he suffered a quad injury and did not the return until after Christmas.
