Paul Warne says Eiran Cashin is part of his plans for Derby County's clash against Sheffield United this weekend despite Brighton's bid to sign him.

The Premier League side are trying to get a deal done for the centre-back with negotiations still ongoing with Derby holding out for a £10m fee. Cashin was due to take part in training as speculation continues to rumble over his future and if a deal is not completed before the weekend, he will be in the squad to face Sheffield United.

Asked if Cashin will play despite the fact a move to the Premier League looks to be on the cards, head coach Warne said: "Until I get told he is not selectable, I will select him.

"There were bids that came in for him prior to the game (v Cardiff) last week. I spoke to Cash and we had a conversation. He played well and so if the situation is still the same until I get told he is not my player why wouldn't I play him? My intention is that Cash will play and use him in every game I can."

Cashin is understood to be keen on a move to the south coast with Brighton having failed to land him in the summer of 2023. On that occasion negotiations carried on right until deadline day over a £4m move but no compromise could be found and the centre-back stayed at Pride Park.

Addressing the situation, Warne added: "I don't have anything more to tell you other than that it's at board level.

"That's out of my paygrade. I know he is training with me today and until I get told anything different, I literally don't know. I expect him to be available for the game as I speak to you now, but I am mature enough to realise that in football things change all the time.

"As I am preparing the team, Cash will be part of it. That's all I know. I have no part to play in the negotiations and I have not been speaking to the board about it over the last few days. As I am led to believe, an offer has been in for Cash. That is all I do know. Whether it's going to be accepted, not accepted, or negotiated that's for the board. My concentration is preparing for the team this weekend."
