While Derby County’s injury issues don’t run quite as serious as the knee ligament damage that has ended Curtis Nelson’s season, Paul Warne admits he is having to manage other problems which could affect his team selection against Sunderland on Tuesday evening.

The Rams boss has revealed there are concerns over both Corey Blackett-Taylor and Ebou Adams as both picked up knocks in the 2-0 loss to Watford, a result that leaves his side just one point above the bottom three and in need of a positive result against the promotion-chasing Black Cats.

Speaking to Rams TV Warne said: “Corey Blackett got a bang on his knee which everyone could see when he got clean through and got wiped out, so he’s in pain. Ebou has got an issue with his groin, we have a few weary bodies is the nicest way to put it.

“We will put together the best way to attack a Sunderland team but we do have a few issues, some might turn out to be nothing, some might turn out to be something.”

On the positive side, at a time when all silver-linings are gratefully received, Warne revealed that injury-blighted midfielder David Ozoh is back ‘on the grass’ and training with the main squad. He also revealed right back Ryan Nyambe has made progress in his bid to return.
