KAMALDEEN Sulemana and Tyler Dibling ran the show as Southampton cruised to a 3-0 win over Swansea City in the FA Cup third round.

Ghana international Kamaldeen fired his first of the season to put Southampton ahead with an audacious first-time chip over the Swansea goalkeeper.

Teenager Dibling continued his breakout season by hitting his first Saints brace to ensure progression against the Championship side.

Substitute Adam Armstrong spurned a late chance to add a fourth in the final five minutes, dragging an effort past the post.

Southampton will host Championship promotion chasers Burnley at St Mary's in the fourth round following their extra-time win over Reading.

Saints have now won each of their last six five FA Cup third round ties, since going out to Derby County after a replay in 2018/19.

This was only the second FA Cup meeting between these sides, with Saints winning a third-round tie 3-2 during the 2021/22 campaign.

Juric made two changes from the side thumped 5-0 by Brentford, he brought Ryan Manning and Mateus Fernandes in from the start in place of Nathan Wood and Paul Onuachu.

The Croatian did not name a recognised striker in his first XI, instead relying on Dibling and Kamaldeen to score the goals.

Southampton were also without former Swansea midfielder Flynn Downes through injury while Will Smallbone returned to the bench.

Wales international Ben Cabango was a known absence for Swansea heading into Sunday and fellow centre-back Harry Darling failed a fitness test in the morning.

That forced Luke Williams to name full-backs Cyrus Christie and Kyle Naughton as a defensive pairing.

Kamaldeen, who has reportedly drawn interest from foreign clubs this month, started strong and was at the heart of two early chances.

He played a first-time cross to Kyle Walker-Peters, which was fired over from a tight angle, before pulling an effort wide having beaten two Swansea defenders.

The 22 year old continued to boss the first half and rolled an effort at Jon McLaughlin moments before Walker-Peters hit another straight at the Scotsman.

Kamaldeen was finally rewarded for his impressive start on 20 minutes when he dinked over a stranded McLaughlin from outside the box, ending his near-19 month wait for a goal.

Brazilian winger Ronald blazed well over as Swansea were afforded a rare sight of goal amid a barrage of Southampton attacks.

Dibling doubled the hosts' lead 10 minutes from halftime, tapping in from four yards to score his first FA Cup goal.

Kamaldeen was once again at the centre of the goal and played an inch-perfect low cross towards the 18 year old.

Jan Bednarek should have extended Southampton's lead early in the second half but his header collided with the Swansea goalkeeper from three yards out.

The Polish international's miss went unpunished by a toothless Swansea with the third Saints goal eventually coming courtesy of Dibling.

His persistence paid off when he pinched from Kyle Naughton, who failed to clear his lines, to grab his first Southampton brace in front of the Northam Wall.

Bednarek was forced off midway through the second half and was replaced by former Swan Nathan Wood to boos from the away fans.

A returning Smallbone nearly handed Joe Allen a consolation goal when he lost the ball on the edge of the box minutes after fellow sub Cameron Archer was denied at the near post.

Armstrong had a chance to put the cherry on top and score his first goal since November in the final minutes but sent a crossbody shot past the far post.
