Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield believes his side ‘did enough to win’ despite drawing 0-0 at home to Bolton Wanderers.

In the club’s 28th and final home game of 2024 in all competitions, in which they won 18 times at Adams Park, the Chairboys failed to register a league goal in 25 games – a run that dates back to April.

Luke Leahy, Jasper Pattenden, Richard Kone, Cameron Humphrys, Fred Onyedinma and Tyreeq Bakinson all had chances to score, but Nathan Baxter in the Trotters' goal was on hand to make several important saves.

Down the other end, Franco Ravizzoli produced a stunning bloke to deny George Thomason in injury time.

For Wycombe, they remain top, two points clear of second place Birmingham City, but the two teams will swap places if the latter beat Crawley Town on December 23.

Speaking at full-time, Bloomfield, who celebrates 21 years at Wycombe on Monday, said: "I thought we did enough to win the game as I thought we dominated and created the best opportunities.

“It’s the first time we haven’t scored in the league since April and we knew that record wasn’t going to last forever, but, I thought we were good.

“They didn’t have a shot on target between the 11th and 67th minutes as we dominant, it’s just a shame we never got the goal we deserved.

“In terms of our identity, when you look back to our first game of the year at home to Bristol Rovers [on January 1], we were fantastic and I thought we were just as good today, but it’s a shame that we didn’t the goal we wanted.

“When that happens, you need to keep the ball out and Franco had good hands at the end [to deny George Thomason] – he was very calm as we expect.

“We played some good stuff and I enjoyed the identity that we kept throughout this calendar year, and we want to finish that year very strongly.”
